Kvadrat gulvtæppe designet af Hella Jongerius

Bold is made using a combination of mechanical and hand-spun yarns resulting in a thick, warm and expressive rug. Bulky and irregular in character, it is the epitome of tactility, a quality that Hella believes to be ‘the most important and best known characteristic of a rug’.

Bold is woven by skilled weavers from India using yarn that has been dyed after it is twisted. This produces an interesting effect as the dye does not penetrate completely to the yarn’s core.

With its sober colouring and simple but distinctive asymmetric design, Bold can make a statement in a space helping to structure it and aid in the placement of furniture.

Design Hella Jongerius

Hella Jongerius is one of the world’s foremost product designers. She is a prominent force in the Netherlands, her native country, as well as on the international stage where she wins regular accolades for her thoughtful and research-driven work. Since her early work for Dutch design collective Droog, and now at her Berlin-based studio Jongeriuslab, material and process research largely determines her design direction. Her work has been characterised by a unique ability to approach industry with a craft perspective. In 2013 Hella Jongerius was appointed Design Director for Danskina, she has brought that same craft sensibility, research and experimentation to the textile industry.
